Cat Fosterer (Newport)

Opportunity image

Do you have a passion for cats? Are you calm, patient and understanding?

As a cat fosterer you will play a vital role in looking after the cats in our care until they find a new home. You'll be fostering cats in your own home and ensuring their welfare needs are met by feeding, grooming and playing with them. The care and interaction you will provide will help the cats in your care develop the socialisation skills which can aid a successful rehoming.

We are looking to recruit cat and kitten foster carers for some of the animals in our care who are not ready for rehoming. Being in a home environment is far more beneficial to their welfare, this can be for many reasons, such as medical, behavioural (very nervous), pregnant cats, nursing mothers or the kittens are simply too young to rehome.

What is required:

  • All necessary equipment, food and Veterinary care will be supplied and funded through the animal centre.
  • Be able to transport the cat/kittens to Vet appointments if needed (our Vets is based in Newport).
  • Have time to spend with the animal, working full time is not ideal when rehabilitating an animal.
  • Have lots of love, time and patience to give the animal in your care the best chance at a happy ever after when ready for rehoming.

You will meet new people in this role and have the support of our staff on hand should you need it. This is a great opportunity to make a real difference to the welfare of cats, especially as some don't take to well to life in a cattery and benefit from time in a loving foster home. It is also something unique to add to your CV.

Ideally you will have experience of looking after cats, and have a spare room at home for fostering. If you can provide a temporary loving home for a feline friend, then this could be the purrrrrfect role for you, click the 'apply' button and tell us more about you.
