Charity Shop Volunteer (Yatton, North Somerset)
We are the RSPCA and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers are incredible, they play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work every day.
Much of our direct animal welfare work is carried out through our branches. These separately registered charities across England and Wales are run by volunteers who are unstinting in their work for animal welfare.
Our shops play a vital role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in the local community and raising funds for local branches so that we can continue our important animal welfare work. Our shops sell a mixture of donated items including clothes, books, bric-a-brac and collectables, and a selection of new items.
The personal rewards for volunteering include: Boosting your confidence and self-esteem; Developing or showcasing your skills and learning new ones; Gaining meaningful experience to enhance your CV and career prospects; Making new friends and forging strong links with your local community; Enhancing your wellbeing.
Retail Assistant duties will include:
Operating the till and card machines, taking payments for goods sold; Greeting customers and helping with any enquiries; Accepting donated goods; Assisting in the stock room with steaming, sorting and hanging the clothes; Replenishing stock in an eye-catching fashion.
Our focus is around empowering and supporting volunteers to maximise their potential within our shops. But we also want to ensure a safe and happy atmosphere where you can make new friends, enjoy the experience and become part of the RSPCA family.
No previous experience is necessary, however, a positive outlook and good team working skills are a must in this friendly shop.
We are looking for people that are:
Welcoming and friendly; Smart and of clean appearance; Reliable and honest; Able to prioritise and be flexible; Ability to work well as part of a team and under their own initiative; Willingness to learn.
