Volunteer Veterinary Surgeon (Birmingham)

At the RSPCA we’ve been at the forefront of animal welfare since 1824, where we were founded in a London coffee shop and we’re proud to be the oldest welfare charity around. With our new strategy ‘Together for Animal Welfare’ we want to improve the lives of more animals in England, Wales, and internationally than ever before.

Volunteer Vets provide an essential service in helping us manage our busy workload. If you are an RCVS registered Vet who would like to donate some of your time to help in our busy Animal Hospitals or Animal Centres we'd like to hear from you.

You'll be supporting our front line work medically and surgically assessing and treating animals in accordance to RSPCA and RCVS standards and policies. This is generally stray related with the majority of surgical operations consisting of neutering and dental work.

If you have left the profession (maybe you have retired or have changed career) and are no longer RCVS registered, please fill in an application form and let us know your circumstances. We may be able to utilise your skills in other ways.

We celebrate and respect the diversity of our RSPCA team and embrace the individual qualities, skills and experiences that everyone brings.

To keep you safe and support your wellbeing, we’ll ask you to complete all the necessary training for your role and keep this up to date. We have a suite of wellbeing resources available and can make reasonable role adjustments to support you in your volunteering.

If you are interested in volunteering in this role, please click the apply button to complete our online application form and provide information about your experience to date. We'll let you know if we have vacancies in your area and the next steps.
