Dog Fosterer (Shrewsbury)

At the RSPCA we’ve been at the forefront of animal welfare since 1824, where we were founded in a London coffee shop and we’re proud to be the oldest welfare charity around. With our new strategy ‘Together for Animal Welfare’ we want to improve the lives of more animals in England, Wales, and internationally than ever before.

If you are passionate about dogs, and have a calm, understanding and patient nature, this could be the ideal role for you.

As a dog fosterer you will play a vital role in looking after the dogs in our care until they find a new home. You'll be fostering dogs in your own home and ensuring their welfare needs are met by exercising, feeding, grooming, taking to vets when needed and giving them lots of love and attention. The care and interaction you'll provide will help the dogs in your care develop the socialisation skills which can aid a successful rehoming. You'll need experience of looking after dogs, and be able to regularly exercise them. In this role you will have the support of our team on hand if you need it.

This is a great opportunity to make a real difference to the welfare of dogs, especially as some find it hard to adapt to life in kennels and benefit from time in a loving foster home.

We celebrate and respect the diversity of our RSPCA team and embrace the individual qualities, skills and experiences that everyone brings.

To keep you safe and support your wellbeing, we’ll ask you to complete all the necessary training for your role and keep this up to date. We have a suite of wellbeing resources available and can make reasonable role adjustments to support you in your volunteering.
