Driver – Charity Shop (Maldon)
Can you help our shops get items from A to B? We're looking for a volunteer who can dedicate time and their vehicle to collect donations and deliver goods. You would play a vital role in helping us raise funds to support our animal welfare work.

Volunteer drivers play an essential part in the operation of our shops since they are responsible for collecting and delivering items of donated stock and moving stock between shops.
About the RSPCA
Founded in 1824 we have been saving animals for almost 200 years and are proud to be the oldest welfare charity around. It has always been our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion, so our volunteers and employees work tirelessly to ensure that all animals can live free from pain and suffering.
Our Charity Shop in Maldon
Our shops play an essential role in raising the profile of the RSPCA in our local community and funds for our branch so that we can continue our vital animal welfare work. Our shops sell a mixture of donated items, including clothes, books, bric-a-brac and collectables, and a selection of new items.
Volunteer Driver responsibilities
- Collect and deliver donated and purchased items.
- Move stock between charity shops & storage unit.
- Ensure that RSPCA rules and regulations are complied with.
- Carry out a small amount of administrative work, such as completing mileage returns.
What we are looking for in a volunteer Driver
- Driver with their own vehicle and knowledge of the local area.
- Friendly and helpful with an interest in local animal welfare.
- All necessary training will be given.
- Expenses and fuel costs provided.
- Volunteers must be aged 18 or over.
- Someone who is flexible and can offer an ongoing commitment predominately for about 5 hours once a week.

Protecting our volunteers and customers is extremely important to us; therefore, due to Covid-19, we have implemented a range of new measures. These include; using plastic screens, providing hand sanitiser, wiping down hard goods, steaming clothing items, doing regular cleaning, as well as social distancing.
Our voluntary roles are subject to an informal interview and trial period. We will ask you to provide contact details for two referees, and dependent on the position, you may need to sign an agreement and undergo specific training before starting the role.
