Dog Fosterer
We are the RSPCA and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers are incredible, they play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work every day.
Much of our direct animal welfare work is carried out through our branches. These separately registered charities across England and Wales are run by volunteers who are unstinting in their work for animal welfare.
This volunteer opportunity is provided by an RSPCA branch, which is a separate registered charity to the RSPCA National Society. Please visit the Branch’s website RSPCA North Somerset Branch - Brent Knoll Animal Centre for more info and to view a copy of the branch's privacy policy. *Privacy Policy
Many of the dogs in our care have never experienced life in a loving, family home. Our fosterers play a vital role by providing a temporary home for animals that are in the care of a local RSPCA branch, either during rehabilitation or whilst they are waiting for a suitable permanent home to be found.
**We are specifically looking for fosterers that live within a 15 minute drive of Brent Knoll Animal Centre (TA9 4BL) ** This is due to RSPCA animals requiring to only see our consulting vets for routine and any emergency medical issues, and be required to visit the Centre for regular check ups/ weight checks etc. Applications over this distance will not be responded to.
Any other dogs in the home must already be neutered and up to date with vaccinations of which will need to be verified with a vet reference. Rescue animals are often vulnerable and so we must do our very best to protect them including from disease.
Successful applicants will be given a tour of the animal centre and invited to a coffee and chat session with members of the team. This is to discuss what fostering means and the variations of it and to assess what type of fostering will suit each person/family before officially signing up!
