Small Animal Assistant
We are the RSPCA and it's our vision to live in a world where all animals are respected and treated with compassion. Our volunteers are incredible, they play an essential role in helping us carry out our important animal welfare work every day.
Much of our direct animal welfare work is carried out through our branches. These separately registered charities across England and Wales are run by volunteers who are unstinting in their work for animal welfare.
This volunteer opportunity is provided by an RSPCA branch, which is a separate registered charity to the RSPCA National Society. Please visit the Branch’s website https://www.rspca-yorkhome.org.uk/ for more info and to view a copy of the branch's privacy policy. https://www.rspca-yorkhome.org.uk/privacy/
Do you have a passion for rabbits, birds, rodents, ferrets, guinea pigs, and lots of other small animals? Are you calm, patient and understanding?
Many of the small furry animals in our care have never experienced life in a loving home. Whilst they wait for that special someone who can give them a second chance of a forever home, they get lots of love, care and attention from the volunteers at our branch centres.
Volunteers assist with the feeding and cleaning, whilst ensuring dietary requirements are met, records are updated and any concerns are raised to the team member on duty. They also spend time grooming and playing, providing stimulation and also helping our residents develop the socialisation skills which can aid a successful rehoming.
